Keith Paul Byington, 86, of Ririe died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at his home in Ririe.
Keith was born July 17, 1920, in Poplar, Idaho the son of John Parley Byington and Marguerite Brennetta Smith Byington. He was student body president while a senior at Ririe High School. Keith marrried Betty Morgan July 1, 1944 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Thier marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on December 17, 1964. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple, Cub Scout leader, Sunday School Superintendent, High Priest Group Leadership, and YMMIA President.
He worked as a dry land farmer in Osgood, Ammon, Antelope, and Poplar. He also worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, Coal mining at Butte, Montana, construction work at Pend Oreille; and as a chemist at the Lincoln Sugar Factory. He enjoyed boxing, golfing, bowling, skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, motorbike riding, fishing and playing games.
Keith is survived by his wife Betty Byington of Ririe, five daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Park of Idaho Falls, Regena (Jim) McEwen of Shelley, Alysia (David) Egan of Ririe, Angela (Steve) Croft of Idaho Falls, Dorothy (Ken) Zaugg of Idaho Falls, three sons, Jerry (Ilene) Byington of Shelley, Brad (Teresa) Byington of Henderson, Nevada, Glade (Lori) Byington of Idaho Falls, sister Neva (Dwain) Peterson of Rigby, brother, Murry (Audrey) Byington of Ririe, 37 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Lena Massengale and Theao Tyler, nine brothers, Bert, Gene, Merrill, Glen, Frank, Ivan, Carl, Doug, Gary Byington, two grandchildren Daryl and Andrew Byington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the Ririe 2nd Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. both at the church. Interment will in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
