Keith Ferrin Jenkins, age 79, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA following complications of a stroke.
Ferrin was born June 2, 1926 in Rigby, Idaho to Keith and Adeline (Moses) Jenkins.
He lived there until 1944 when he joined the Merchant Marines. Ferrin traveled from several ports on the Pacific coast then on to Hong Kong, China while serving in the military.
He came home to start farming and married Neva Poole in 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 16, 1951.
They farmed in the Rigby and Ucon area in Idaho until 1986. They then moved to Hollister, CA and managed a race horse farm until 1993. They later moved to Logandale, Nevada where they lived for 2 ½ years. Wanting to be near their eldest son, they then decided to move to Pasco, WA where they have remained since.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many capacities including Sunday School President, scouting, High Priest Group, and as a home teacher.
Ferrin is survived by his wife, Neva; five children, Linda (Larry) Madsen, Eugene (Louise) Jenkins, Debra (John) Durrant, Tena (Ron) Looney and John (Annette) Jenkins; and two brothers, Vaughn (Marge) Jenkins and Rex Jenkins. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Ferrin was preceded in death by his mother and father.
The viewing will be Monday, February 27, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mueller’s Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court Street, Pasco and Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2004 N. 24th Avenue, Pasco.
A viewing will take place at Eckersell’s Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID from 6:00-8:00 p.m. the evening before the service and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. the morning of the service.
There will then be a graveside service on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Grant Central Cemetery in Grant, ID.
