Keith A “Scotty” Scott, age 83, of Rigby died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at his home in Rigby.
Keith was born August 18, 1923, in Lyman, Idaho. He attended Midway High School. He married Marjorie June Winchester December 7, 1946 in Thomas, Idaho. They later solemnized their marriage in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on December 12, 1981. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He was a life member of the V.F.W. He served as the District and State Commander of the V.F.W. Keith served on the City council of Rigby from 1968-1982. He then served three terms as the Mayor of Rigby. He was a business owner for over 50 years starting in Ucon in 1947 running a service station which he then moved to Rigby in 1950. Later he worked as the Bowes Seal Fast Distributor and then opened Scotty’s Auto Parts 1981 Which later became Scotty’s True Value and Carquest with Rentals.
Keith is survived by his wife Marjorie Scott of Rigby, two daughters Patricia Lyn Scott of Salt Lake City, Utah, Krystal (Jerry) Van Leuven of Roberts, two sons Kirk A. (Kathee) Scott of Rigby, Tony Keith (Gayle) Scott of Menan, two sisters Elva DeRoche of Blackfoot, Idaho, Donna (Walter) Struhs of Idaho Falls, Idaho, one brother Eldon (Maureen) Scott of Annis, Idaho, and 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Lee Scott and Vea Elva Atkinson Scott, one son Michael Lee Scott and sister Ruth McNeal.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Rigby Stake Center at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Brian McLain officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. and prior to the services on Monday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. both at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans Team. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Jefferson County Historical Society and Museum.
