Keith Harold Smout, 62 of Rigby, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in Dilley, Texas from injuries sustained in a semi-truck accident. He was born May 29, 1949, in Rigby, Idaho to Loy James Smout and Velma LaRae Freeman Smout. He was raised and attended school in Ririe. He married LaRae Purser Jackson; together they had a son and a daughter; they later divorced. On March 11, 1974, he married Charlene Mickelsen in Ririe, Idaho; to this union they added 1 daughter and 1 son. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 28, 2011. Keith was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked as a Truck Driver for various companies in South Eastern Idaho. He was a team driver with his wife Charlene and loved their time together on the open road. He enjoyed being outdoors and adored his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Smout, of Rigby, daughters, Suzanne LaRae (Wally) Frost, of Layton, Utah, Lorna Jane (Chuck) Camp, of Rigby, sons, JayPaul Smout Jackson, of Rigby, Darwin Ray (DeAnna) Smout, of Thornton, sisters, Linda Lee Kite, of Rigby, Leslie Ann (Lynn) Rockwood, of Iona, brothers, Ronald Loy Smout, of Chico, Texas, Bruce Freeman Smout, of Moreno, California, Wade Paul Smout, of Idaho Falls, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Rigby East Stake Center, 4021 E. 300 N. Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Monday evening, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the name of Darwin Smout for The Keith Smout Memorial Fund, at any Wells Fargo Bank.
