Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Keneth Lee Brown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014, enveloped by the love of his family.
Keneth was born November 3, 1938 to Wilbur Allen and Lucy Allred Brown in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended Rigby High School and especially enjoyed his math class. He spent much of his childhood working on the farm and teasing his older sister.
Ken was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving a full-time mission in the Central States Mission from 1959-1961. He returned many times to Arkansas throughout his life, having fallen in love with the people during his mission.
On August 25, 1961, Ken married Gloria Deann Eddie daughter of the late Lloyd Eddie and Berniece Eddie Walker in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. He graduated from Utah State University’s accounting program in 1964 and began a fulfilling career. He owned his accounting firm in Rigby for over 35 years.
Ken remained heavily involved in the community. He was a Paul Harris fellow with the Rotary Club, serving for many years. He was a tax auditor for the State of Idaho and was an Idaho representative for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association from 1992 to 2005. Ken was a proud board member for Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative for many years and amused his grandchildren with memorabilia from the Fall River conferences.
Ken found great joy serving in his many church callings. He particularly enjoyed his time serving in multiple bishoprics and loved his calling as a bishop for a Ricks College single-adult ward. He also served as the Stake Clerk for two Stake Presidents in the Ririe Stake. Ken’s faith was an integral part of his entire life.
His greatest joys came from his family and serving his community. He also enjoyed traveling across the U.S. with his wife and their friends. His family will miss his humor, generosity, teasing, and outings to the nearby convenience store to spoil his grandkids, golf games, and frequent trips to Heise Hot Springs to stay in the trailer.
We are grateful for the comfort that he is at peace in his heavenly home.
Keneth is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 53 years. Shauna (A. Bart) Griffiths of Logan, UT; Deann (Klair B.) Hall of Idaho Falls, ID; Blake Eddie ( Lisa) Brown of Houston, TX; and Janalee (Ryan D.) Black of Yakima, WA. and his sister Marlene “Molly” Calderwood. He has 16 grandchildren with three currently serving full time missions. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Lucy Brown; his brother, Cloyd Allen Brown; and his father in law, Lloyd Edwin Eddie and his brother in-law Donald Calderwood.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Clark Ward (198 N. 4300 E. Rigby). The family will visit with friends from 6:00 - 7:30p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Eckersell Funeral Home and prior to the services from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
