Kenneth Ray Lee

December 31, 1953 — December 14, 2016

Kenneth Ray Lee, 62, of Hibbard, Idaho passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Kenneth, who preferred to be called Kenny, was born December 31, 1953 in Rexburg, Idaho the son of Oliver Fisher and Violet Mina Pfost Lee. Kenny lived in Hibbard most of his life, and was currently living in the home where he grew-up. He worked as a carpet layer for most of his professional life and was able to provide for he and his wife. Kenny married Shawna Hammer on June 18, 1979 in Hibbard, Idaho. Their marriage was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Rexburg LDS Temple on February 14, 2008. Theirs was a genuine love story. Something that makes theirs even more unique was about 22 years ago when Kenny was diagnosed with a hereditary kidney disease, requiring a transplant. With his condition getting worse, and not finding a match, Shawna was tested and albeit rarely that it happens, she was a match! A local TV station came to their home to do a story on this extraordinary couple and the love that they have for each other. Kenny and Shawna did not have children; however, he was adored by his nieces and nephews and his great-nieces and nephews. He was the fun uncle that always had time for his family. There are more cherished camping memories of Uncle Kenny than can be counted, among them with him being an accomplished Dutch oven cook. Kenny enjoyed attending church and the temple, and served in many various callings. He found great joy in being in service of others. Kenny is survived by his wife, Shawna Lee, his brother, Larry Lee, and his sister Elizabeth (Betty) Lee Hyder. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Loa Lee Hansen. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Hibbard LDS 5th Ward Chapel (2001 North 3000 West, Rexburg, Idaho). The family will meet with friends Monday, December 19th from 7:00-8:30pm at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby, ID) and again on Tuesday from 9:30-10:45am at the Hibbard Chapel. Interment will be in the Chester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made at: https://www.gofundme.com/kenny-lee-funeral?ssid=841213516&pos=4 Kenny will be dearly missed by his friends and large extended family; as in life even in death thoughts of him will bring smiles and laughter for years to come.
