Kenneth Ragan, age 98 of Shelley, died at his home Monday, November 12, 2007. He was born September 2, 1909 at Blackfoot, a son of Ray Ragan and Minnie J. Kinney Ragan. He attended schools in Shelley and graduated from Blackfoot High School. He attended Pharmacy School at Idaho State University in Pocatello. Ken served with the United States Army National Guard. He worked in Jackson Hole, Wyoming during WWII as a Pharmacist. He owned Idaho Drug in Rigby for 35 years. After he sold Idaho Drug he retired in Shelley. He belonged to the Lions Club in Rigby, served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Jefferson Planning and Zoning Committee. Ken married Melba Miller on December 27, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ken enjoyed boating, fishing, and working on his home.
He is survived by a daughter, Margery J. Houdyshell, of Boise, three sons; Raymond K. Ragan, of Shelley, Rodney Ragan, of Idaho Falls, a sister Ann Kriksey, of Townsnd, MT, twenty-one grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba, son, Ronald G. Ragan and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007, at the Woodville Church (1555 North 700 East Shelley, Idaho) at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Robert Butler officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
