Kent J. Anderson, 88 of Rigby, passed away April 13, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.  Kent was born June 3, 1935, in Lorenzo, Idaho a son of Lynn S. Anderson and Marie Weber Anderson.  He grew up in Lorenzo and LaBelle areas and attended school in Rigby.

While growing up Kent worked for his father on the farm and at his father’s store and gas station in Lorenzo.  Kents brothers Bryce, Virgil, and Denny had many exciting adventures growing up.

Kent married Shirley Schritter on October 26, 1956 in Terreton, Idaho.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.  They had three children Karl, Colleen, and Crystal.  Kent was a union carpenter and business agent for the carpenters union.  He worked as a millwright at the INEL, and worked on many bridges and building site projects in the valley.

Kent enjoyed fishing, boating, team roping, hunting, and was an avid rock hound.  The family enjoyed many trips on the Salmon River steelhead fishing, camping and 4 wheeling together.

Kent was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Scout Leader.  Kent also served in the National Guard Reserve for several years.

Kent loved supporting his daughters in rodeo events and going with Karl fishing in Kents Jet boat.

Kent is survived by his wife Shirley, son Karl (Tamara) Anderson, daughters Colleen (Keith) Barney, Crystal (Kent) Fenton all of Rigby, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at the LaBelle L.D.S. Chapel.  The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening April 18, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. both at the church.  Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
