Kent Albert Christensen

Kent Albert Christensen, 59 of Lewisville, died of cancer at his home with his wife and all of his children by his side, Sunday, April 06, 2008. He was born, December 29, 1948 at Ogden, UT a son of Fay Albert Christensen and Lila Devera Cook Christensen. He attended Lewisville Elementary, Midway Jr. High and graduated from Rigby High School. He continued his education at Ricks College, BYU, San Antonio College and received training in Hypo-Hyperbaric Chambers at the School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks Air Force Base, TX. He served in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. March 1, 1969 he married Faylene Dana at Thayne, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked at Argonne and the chemical processing plant, for Clement Brothers in Lewisville, and for the Idaho Falls waste water treatment facility as a Lab Tech and truck driver. Kent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as ward clerk in two Bishoprics, Sunday School Presidency and Sunday School Teacher. He served on Rigby High School Parent Advisory Board, helped organize the Menan Little League Program and coached in various youth sports programs. He enjoyed hunting, all sports, fishing, the outdoors, was a certified SCUBA diver and an avid bowler. He is survived by his wife, Faylene of Lewisville, daughters, Aleisa (Kenneth) Arnold of Clarkston, UT, Bridget (Scott) Durst of Hubbard, OR, Megan (Joel) Peterson of Billings, MT, Melanie Christensen of Lewisville, ID sons, Joshua Derek (Amanda) Christensen of Humble, TX, Corey Dana (Kristie) Christensen of Ammon, ID, Tyler Kent (Jennifer) Christensen of Rigby, ID, sister, Colleen (Wes) Oswald of Boise, ID, and twenty-four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Una Dee Christensen and a brother, Arvin Fay Christensen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Lewisville 1st Ward Chapel, with Bishop James Gneiting, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Thayne, WY, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
