Lahna May Woods, 82 of Sunnydell, died of natural causes Thursday January 7, 2021 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg. Lahna was born July 2, 1938, In Sunnydell, Idaho, a daughter of Delos and Miriam Nelson. She was raised in Sunnydell. She attended Archer Elementary and graduated from Madison High School. She married the love of her life, Kirby Woods of Archer, September 26, 1956 in Sunnydell. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 1 st , 1964. After their marriage they moved to Pocatello where their four sons; Michael, David, Tracy and Kevin were born. It was later while living in California that their daughter Sherise was born.
While living in California and Virginia Lahna loved working with the special needs troops of the Boy Scouts of America. The family moved back to Idaho in 1972 where Lahna worked at JCPenney until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, reading and working in the Rexburg Temple, with Kirby. She had the most kind and compassionate heart. Having sleepovers with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was by far her favorite thing to do. She was known as “mom and grandma” to many even outside of her family. She was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held several callings, her favorite being music enrichment leader in the Relief Society. She and Kirby were members of several square-dancing groups in the Upper Valley.
She is survived by her children; Michael of Sunnydell, David (Trina) of Rigby, Kevin (Angie) of Sunnydell and Sherise (Blane) of Stansbury Park, Utah, her sister Delila Weaver of Egin Bench, Glen (Melanie) Nelson of Bloomfield, New Mexico, 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kirby, her son Tracy, her parents, sister Mary, brothers Dos and Donald and great grandson Carson.
The family will meet friends and family Saturday January 9 th from 11:30-12:45 at Sunnydell LDS ward (201 West 8000 South) Rexburg, with service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow immediately after in the Sutton Cemetery.
The family would like to express our eternal gratitude for the love and genuine care given to our mother during her stay at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg Idaho. Words cannot express the peace that it brought us knowing that she was in such capable, loving hands during her time there. The compassion shown by the caregivers and hospice staff was beyond anything we could have hoped for.
