Lamont Ray Thorngren

LaMont Ray Thorngren, age 76, of Rigby, passed away at his home, Tuesday February 24, 2015. LaMont was born October 31, 1938 in Rigby, Idaho a son of Glen and Elna Larsen Thonrgren. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School. He married Verna Mae Humpherys June 6, 1958 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple May 8, 1963. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a ward clerk, in the High Priest Group Leadership and was a home teacher. He served in the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. He worked as an upholsterer, baker and as a fuel truck driver. He enjoyed collecting guns, hunting with his father-in-law, riding horses and being with family, fishing and camping. Family was his number one joy in life. He is survived by his wife Verna Thorngren of Rigby, two daughters: Bridget (Ben) Mitchell of Rexburg and Colleen (Randal) Bradshaw of Rigby, two sons: Bill Thorngren of Idaho Falls and Monty Thorngren of Rigby, three sisters: Hazel Huntsman of Ammon, Jannie (Kenneth) Sudsweeks of Clearfield, Utah and Darlene Gardner of North Odgen, Utah, 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Cindy Rae and a brother and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan Stake Center with Bishop Mark Anderson conducting. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
