It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, Lane Reed Boyce, 63, of Lewisville, Idaho. Lane passed away November 12th, 2025 at EIRMC surrounded by his children.
Lane was born October 12th, 1962 in Rexburg, Idaho to Nathan Blake Boyce and Joann Ellen Young. He was the 2nd of nine children. He attended schools in Lewisville and Rigby. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a free spirited and adventurous child with a creative mind. As he got older his adventures and work took him all over the map.
While working in Greybull, Wyoming he met and fell in love with Tammy Lynn Mattis. Lane and Tammy were married on February 9th, 1985. They were married for 30 years and although they later divorced, Tammy remained the love of his life. Together they had 7 children. As a family they lived in Utah, Arizona and Hawaii before they settled back down in Lewisville, Idaho where Lane continued to farm and do construction. One of Lane's greatest passions in life was pouring concrete (mud). He started pouring concrete when he was 16. He poured concrete all over the United States from Hawaii to California, all along I-80 and from Iowa to Tennessee. His skills and workmanship were unmatched. Pouring and finishing concrete was an art form to him and there was no one else that could do it quite like he could.
Lane always enjoyed big family reunions, getting together with his friends, John Wayne Movies, searching for treasures at yard sales or thrift stores, raising his cows, riding his motorcycle or simply taking a drive across the country. His children and his grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy. You could catch him anywhere, bragging about them or showing off pictures to anyone who would look at them.
Lane’s storytelling skills were unmatched. He had a story for about any scenario you could imagine. His stories would keep you on the edge of your seat and make you laugh and cry all at once. He had a legendary kind of personality… loud, stubborn, and able to fill a room without even trying, He was the hardest worker you would ever meet. He could drive you nuts and make you laugh in the same breath. He was determined, he was handsome and his smile was one of our favorite things about him. Anyone that knew Lane has their own stories about him. He was unapologetically himself all the time. He was truly one of a kind. There will never be anyone else like Lane Boyce. The impact he had on the lives of everyone that he met is forever lasting. He will be missed more than words can describe.
Lane is survived by his seven children; Aubree (Skyler) Ashbocker of Lewisville, Colton (Mindy) Boyce of Iona, Lacey (Dustin) Hankins of Coggon, IA, Spencer Boyce of Lewisville, Rhett Boyce (Courtney Kimpel) of Rigby, JoAnna (Spencer) Anderson of Idaho Falls, Garrett Boyce of Idaho Falls. 16 grandchildren and his siblings; Kurtis (Lisa) Boyce of Lewisville, Trent (Cindy) Boyce, Bryce (April) Boyce and Melanie Ball, all of Rigby, Ashley (Brant) Barney of Menan, Christine (Dave) Wesemann of Farmington, UT, JoEllen Kenney of Greenville, TN, Angela (Kevin) Harrison of Lehi, UT and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents.
