LaPreal Keppner Hayes, 69, of Rigby, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
LaPreal was born on March 6, 1954 at the Rigby Maternity Home in Rigby, Idaho to Wayne Watson Keppner and Nadine Verna Johnson Keppner.
She graduated from Rigby High School, attended Excelsius Beauty College obtaining a degree in cosmetology; LaPreal then attended Ricks College, Idaho State University, and the Lewis and Clark State College graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Special Education.
LaPreal married the love of her life, Kirt R. Hayes on September 1, 1972 for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She was the owner of Hayes Key Lock Video and Tanning. She worked for Walmart, Red Door Rehabilitation, Madison School District, Jefferson School District, Bonneville School District, and Sugar Salem School District, Journey’s, Qualicare, and Premium Choice Health Care.
LaPreal was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings.
She was a woman of many talents. LaPreal loved quilting, sewing, painting, crocheting, family history, drawing and scrapbooking, gardening, writing poems and stories, canning, and embroidery.
LaPreal is proceeded in death by her parents, Wayne and Nadine Keppner; in-laws Keith and Nea Mae Hayes; and sister Shawna Dalton.
LaPreal is survived by her sweetheart, Kirt R. Hayes of Rigby; children Shantelle (LaVell) Spencer of Rexburg, son Rhett (Faye) Hayes of Ucon, daughter Deneece (Joshua) Bush of Rigby, Andrea (Daniel) Hammon of Rigby, Danyel (Gary) Hayes of Lewisville, daughter Katie (Jeffrey) Prudent of Rigby, and daughter Kimberly (Taylon) Mason of Rigby; siblings Linda Feucht of Idaho Falls, Randy (Diana) Keppner of Idaho Falls, Monte (Linda) Keppner of Idaho Falls and Tony Keppner of Menan. Funeral services for LaPreal will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rigby LDS Stake Center (258 W 1st N Rigby ID 83442). Viewings will be held on Friday night from 6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
