Laurel Gwen Jones, 87, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away January 31, 2017 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Laurel was born May 29, 1929, in Anaconda, Montana a daughter to Leland and Hazel Glover. She was raised in Marysville, Idaho and attended school in Ashton, Idaho.
Laurel married Lewis Edward Jones, September 10, 1948 in Rexburg, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 29, 1952.
Laurel loved being a mom. Her children were her life as well as all the neighbor’s children. Lewis and Laurel purchased the Monteview store in 1979, where Laurel was well known for her homemade maple bars and spudnuts sold in the store. She worked for School District 91 as a bus aid for over 15 years. Laurel enjoyed all forms of handwork, including crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. She played the organ by ear and was a faithful member of the LDS Church.
Laurel is survived by her children, Patricia Nicole’ (Ron Wilson) McCay of Oroville, California, Leland LeRoy Jones of Idaho Falls, Jerry Eugene (Martha) Jones of San Antonio, Texas Becky Lynne (Robert) Eddins of Rigby Idaho, Bruce Edward (Brandy) Jones of Boise, Idaho as well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis Edward Jones, daughter Reatha Gwen Jones, son Dexter Lewis Jones, 3 brothers Lynn, Loyal, and Brent, 5 sisters Darlene, Maloah, Bonita, Viva, and Trenna and 3 grandchildren Raine, Tommy and Matthew.
Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am. The Family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery following the service.
