Laurel Anne Wheeler

Laurel Anne Foote Wheeler, 66 of Ririe, died December 19, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. She was born in SLC, Utah on September 19, 1945, the baby daughter of Charles Horace Foote and R. May Mayhew Foote. She attended several schools growing up as her parents served church building missions in various places including Mississippi and Texas. She graduated from high school in Mississippi, attended Kilgore College in Texas. She then worked for a jewelry store in Utah and as a secretary for The State of Utah Tax Commission. She met her eternal sweetheart, LaMar Wheeler via correspondence while he served in the US Military in Germany. They met face to face in September of 1967 and were sealed in the SLC LDS Temple December 8, 1967. There were blessed with a son, Jason Lee Wheeler on October 28, 1970. Laurel enjoyed handicrafts and was always making handmade items for people. She worked as an aide at Ririe Elementary for 21 years and enjoyed this very much. She was the Ririe 3rd Ward Scout Advancement Chairman for 25 years alongside her husband who served as Scoutmaster. She was active in the LDS Church and served in various callings. She is survived by her husband, LaMar Wheeler, of Ririe, son, Jason Lee (DawnRae) Wheeler and grandsons, Parker & Hayden, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, brother, Duane (LaVell) Foote, of Texas, sisters, Sharon (Merrill) Gould, of Logan, Utah, and Linda (Vance) Rollins, of Kerns, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bruce Foote, and a sister-in-law, Sue Foote. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at Ririe 3rd Ward LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services, both at the stake center. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
