Lavon Kinghorn, 81, of Ammon, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at The Gables, care facility in Ammon.
Lavon was born March 13, 1932 at Lewisville to Joseph Leland and Gladys Jenkins Kinghorn. She attended Lewisville grade school, then on to Midway High School. In her junior year the school burned down and she had to finish that year in the partitioned off gym. She finished her senior year at Rigby High School.
Lavon worked at the P.M.A. office in Rigby and later at the AEC site. EG & G took over the communications center where she finished her working years.
After retiring she enjoyed going to Island Park. She bought a four-wheeler and loved to ride on the trails. She especially enjoyed traveling with her friend Rosie Christensen.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and really enjoyed working in the laundry at the Idaho Falls Temple folding clothes. She also enjoyed skiing and embroidery.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen (Jim) Sobieski of Idaho Falls, Rhea Lounsbury, of Rigby, 4 nephews, 2 nieces and many great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law, two nephews, a step sister, and a step brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
