Leah Mary Andersen, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Mount Vernon Assisted Living of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Leah was born April 14, 1926, in Archer, Idaho the daughter of Lelen and Martha (Galbraith) Weekes. She grew up in Archer and attended school there. She was a member of the LDS Church. On August 26, 1943, she married M.W. “Swede” Andersen at the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City.
Leah worked for many years in the retail business in Idaho Falls. She was employed by Sprouse Ritz, the Bon Marche, and Block’s Department Store. She was the manager for Ladies ready to wear at Block’s for several years. She retired in 1984 along with Swede.
They enjoyed camping, hunting, traveling, and spending time with family. They loved their time together and taking care of their home in Rigby.
She is survived by her three children, a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Marvalee) Arneson, of Yuma, AZ, two sons, Ed W. Andersen (Noreen), of Firth, ID, Roger M. Andersen, of Iona, ID, two sisters, Mrs. Anita Peterson, of Rexburg, ID, Mrs. Leroy (Maxine) Hope, of Idaho Falls, ID, two brothers, J.R. “Lelen” (Velma) Weekes, of Basin, WY, DeVar (Gwen) Weekes, of Rexburg, ID, five grandchildren, Jeff R. (Sharon), Arneson, Michael E. (Angela), Arneson, Tracy Anderson, Terri TeNgaio, Adam W. (Summer) Andersen; five great-grandchildren Jarek Arneson, Rachel Arneson, Dylan Arneson, Kai TeNgaio and Kenzi TeNgaio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five sisters, Clea Briggs, Delpha Beck, Eva Hubbard, Artella Schnieter, and Lillian Bell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
