Lee Edward Sauer

September 18, 1940 — May 23, 2021

Lee Edward Sauer, 80, of Lewisville, Idaho passed away Sunday, May 23rd at home.

Lee was born September 18, 1940 in Idaho Falls, Idaho; the son of Edward Irvin Sauer and Drucilla June West Sauer.  In 1961, he served a mission for the Church in the California Los Angeles Mission (which at the time covered Arizona, parts of Nevada, and the southern half of California.)  He hated being away from the Idaho mountains and would never move away again.

In 1959, he enrolled at Ricks College, then transferred to Brigham Young University.  He received an accounting degree from Idaho State University in 1965.  After working for accounting firms in Idaho Falls, he set up a private accounting practice in 1968.  He retired from accounting in 2002.  His first working love though was always farming.  He took over the family farm when his dad died in 1963 and continued working on the farm until the end.

On July 23rd, 1965, he married Pamela Young in the Idaho Falls temple.  He served in the church and community throughout his life, including his service to the Jefferson Scholarship Board, as a temple ordinance worker, and as Bishop of the Lewisville 2nd ward.  But in between farming, accounting, and helping others, he always found time for fishing and hunting.  The walls of his backroom were covered with antlers, taxidermied fish, and his prize elk.

He is survived by his wife and three children, LeeAnn, Scott (Cammie), and Benjamin (Leilani), and by his sisters, Nancy, Betty (Brooks), Nyla (Vic).  His 11 grandchildren are Kolton Munns, Kassie (Kyson) Rasmussen, Kaitlin Munns, Lindsey (Nathan) Prince, Tyson Sauer, Kyle Sauer, Bryant Sauer, Andrew Sauer, Hannah Sauer, William Sauer, and Lucy Ann Sauer.  He has 1 great grandchild and a second is expected in August.  He is preceded in death by his brother Don (Jeanine) and his parents (Ted and Drucy).

Lee's funeral service will be Friday, May 28, 2021, 11:00 AM at the Lewisville LDS Church.  The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the church.  Interment will be in the Grant Cemetery.
