Lena Cherry Galbraith, age 83, of Lyman, died in her home, April 24, 2007. She was born August 31, 1923 in Burton, Idaho, the fifth child of Joseph Andrew Cherry and Margaret Pearl Murphy Cherry. She attended schools in Burton and Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School in 1942. She married Lloyd Elmer Galbraith of Lyman August 4, 1942. Their marriage was solemnized December 9, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they lived in Texas and Washington and for the last several years in Lyman Idaho.
Lena worked in Rexburg for seventeen years for J. M. McDonald department store, and three years at the Chateau Drug in Rexburg, before retiring. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including Young Women’s President and Relief Society President. With her husband she served several years as a patron in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Lea (Dan) Webster of Jerome, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons Van and Byron, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m., in the Lyman First Ward LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and Friday from 11:30 – 12:45 p.m. at the church in Lyman. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
