Leona Elizabeth Stromberg

Leona Elizabeth Bloxham Stromberg, 98, of Ririe, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Rigby. She was born January 14, 1913, in Downey, Idaho to Fredrick Fitzjohn Bloxham and Esther Jane Davis Bloxham. She was raised and attended schools in Downey. On January 21, 1935, she married Alvin B. Stromberg; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 23, 1988. Together they had 2 children. Leona loved gardening, especially growing flowers. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She canned fruit and made jam from her harvest and always had a full cupboard of fruit that was as beautiful to look at as it was delicious. She was always happy when the grandchildren came over to see her and visit with her. She loved her family and was always serving them. Leona’s family would especially like to thank the owners and staff of Pine Brook Assisted Living in Rigby for their loving care during the past year. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda (Wayne) Rottweiler, of San Antonio, Texas, Son, Kenneth (Delaina) Stromberg, of Ririe, Idaho, a sister-in-law, Donna Bloxham, of Idaho Falls, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin B. Stromberg, sisters, Louise, Mary Bell, Ruth Ann, Mabel Francis, Faye Emma, brothers, Fredrick Charles, Vern Delbert, Christopher Ray, and Reed Davis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
