Leonard LaMoyne Barney, 79, of Hamer, died at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Thursday, July 28, 2005
LaMoyne was born February 8, 1926 at St. Anthony, Idaho a son of Lynn Charles and Telva Lovisa Leonard Barney. He attended schools in Camas and Hamer. He was involved in basketball and track and was valedictorian of his class.
He married Mary Loretta McLain May 15, 1948 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple March 10, 1965. He farmed and ranched in the Hamer area.
He was a member of Farm Bureau Board, Soil Conservation Board, West Jefferson Lions Club, and currently serving on the West Jefferson Senior Citizens Board. He was a 4-H leader, scout leader and honorary FFA member. He was honored as Grand Marshall in Mud Lake Fair and Rodeo in 1992. He never met a stranger was loved by many and enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeo’s, horses, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
Survivors include:3 daughters, Janet (Gary) Laird of Pocatello, Ann (LaMont) Taylor of Challis, Marie (Harley) Carpenter of Terreton, 1 son Lyle Barney of Shelley, 1 sister Opal Johnston of Dubois, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Loretta and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday August 1, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton Stake Center with Bishop Todd Simmons officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Terreton Stake Center and on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
