Leorial Hadley Abbott

LEORIAL Hadley ABBOTT, age 85, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, January 28, 2005, at her home in Idaho Falls. Leorial was born September 28, 1919, in Rigby, Idaho, the daughter of Elmer Evan Waters and Melbie Ormond Waters. Leorial was raised and attended schools in Rigby. She was the Valedictorian of her eighth grade class, and her high school graduating class. She was the editor of the Rigby High School weekly newspaper, and was on the year book staff. She attended Ricks College. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Secretary of the Primary, and Sunday School, at the age of 10. She served as secretary of the Rigby Stake Relief Society Board. She also served as Relief Society President in Denver, Colorado. She served in several wards and in four stakes. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Florida Mission 1973-1974. Leorial married Orval George Hadley, September 2, 1938, in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. He preceded her in death in October of 1971. She later married Stephen Garth Abbott, January 5, 1985, in Long Beach, California. She is survived by her husband Stephen Garth Abbott of Idaho Falls, Idaho. One daughter, Carol Anne (Leland) Dille of Pocatello, Idaho. Two sisters, Lucille (Jewell) Hansen of Rexburg, Idaho, and Laura W. Ellis of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived by 12 grandchildren. Leorial is preceded by her parents, one daughter, Marilyn Lee, and two brothers, Parley and Lee Waters. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Crestwood Ward L.D.S. Chapel, 2055 Coronado, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will receive friends Monday evening 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Crestwood L.D.S. Chapel in Idaho Falls, and Tuesday 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the Crestwood L.D.S. Chapel. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
