Leslie "Les" R. Howe

Leslie “Les” R. Howe, 88 of Rigby, died Monday January 16, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was born April 17, 1923, in Rigby, Idaho to Richard Leslie Howe and Lela Lois Hawker Howe. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. He attended the University of Utah for special training during World War II, and served honorably in the US Army from 1943 to 1947. On June 5, 1943 he married Essie Hall in Salt Lake City; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on January 12, 1944. To this union they added 4 children. He worked as a School Bus Driver in Jefferson County, he owned and operated Howe Fabric in Rigby for many years, and was a Machinist for Phillips Petroleum until his retirement. Les was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 3rd, 1934. He served in many capacities including; Ward Clerk and High Priest. He was an Auxiliary Police Officer, an EMT, and a Quick Response member. He is survived by his wife, Essie Howe, daughters, Marilyn (David) Woodruff, of Bremerton, Washington, Marsha (Darrell) Felch, of Richland, Washington, sons, Richard “Dick” (Joyce) Howe, of West Yellowstone, Montana, Scott (Tammi) Howe, of Rigby, Idaho, a sister, Sharon Hill, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, a brother, Thayne (Joyce) Howe, of Rigby, 28 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Monte Howe and Dean Howe. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2012 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Funeral Home.
