Levi Lorenzo Smuin

July 1, 1953 — December 24, 2025

Terreton

Levi Lorenzo Smuin (Zo), age 72, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on June 1, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Thomas Franklin Smuin and Alberta Boren.

Zo grew up in Mud Lake, Idaho, where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and family from an early age. He graduated from West Jefferson High School and spent his early years farming, a way of life that shaped his strong work ethic and love for the land.

A true cowboy at heart, Zo loved horses and the freedom they represented. He also loved being outdoors—hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains and fields he knew so well. He is remembered for being physically tough, he carried that strength into his career as a lineman for Rocky Mountain Power - work that demanded grit, courage, and determination. Despite his toughness, Levi was always smiling and laughing. He was a natural jokester with a warm sense of humor, able to lighten any room and make people feel welcome.

Levi was devoted to his faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he lived his life guided by those principles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who led by example, valuing integrity, loyalty, and kindness. Of all the things he loved, few brought him more joy than his grandbabies, who held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonita Jo Miller; his six children: Anna Ball, William Smuin, Katie (Troy) Sorensen, Amanda (Peter) Baldwin, Michael (Janessa) Smuin, and Deidre (Blake) Van Etten; 21 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Phyllis Miller and his siblings: Tom (Joy) Smuin, John (Karen) Smuin, Lanore (Pat) Jones, Lorna (Steve) Bennett, Dewey (Linda) Smuin, and Vivian Cervantes.

Levi was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Franklin Smuin; his mother, Alberta Boren; his father-in-law William Glenn Miller, his brother, Arland Smuin; his sister, Evelyn Wilding and brother-in-law Wallace Wilding.

Levi will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, his love of the outdoors, and the deep devotion he had to his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the generations that follow.
