Lila Mae Gideon, 82, of Rexburg, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Rexburg Nursing and Rehab in Rexburg, Idaho.
Lila was born July 5, 1926 at Thornton, Idaho a daughter to Henry J and Ida Mae Hansen Keele. She attended schools in Independence and graduated from Madison High School.
She married Ross A. Gideon October 29, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. She worked in the telephone office in Idaho Falls and transferred to Rigby after marriage. She was a substitute mail carrier for the Post office in Thornton, drove potato truck for Wilcox, was the secretary for Madison County Road and Bridge and worked on the farm and raised kids. She was a member of The LDS Church and served in the Relief Society Presidency. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed embroidering, making quilts, camping and fishing.
She is survived by two sons Michael Ross (Jennifer) Gideon of Rexburg, and Jeffery H. (Melissa) Gideon of Corinne, Utah, one sister, Lorna (Roy) Wilcox of Rexburg, three brothers, Merlin (Sharon) Keele of St. George, Utah, Robert (Jerry) Keele of Rexburg, and Marvin (Toni) Keele of Shelley, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Burial will be at Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
