Lila Hannah Coles Tirrell, 94, of Rigby, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 7, 2009, at the Pine Brook Assisted Living Center, in Rigby.
She was born October 3, 1914, in Milo, Idaho, to Alvin Coles and Mary Ida Fogg Coles. She was raised and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. On December 5, 1935, she married Eldon Tirrell, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they operated the Rigby Coal and Feed; they loved working together, and had many friends up and down the valley.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as ward music director most of her life, she also served in the Relief Society and taught in the primary and Sunday school. Lila loved music, dancing, crocheting, sewing and traveling with her husband throughout the intermountain west and Canada racing thoroughbreds, she especially loved her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Karla (Clair) Koplin, Rilla (Brent) Spaulding, a sister Vada Tirrell, all of Rigby, 30 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 35 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2009, at the Rigby East Stake Center, 4021 E. 300 N., Rigby, with Bishop Wayne Call, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Friday, prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
