Lillis Johnson age 87, of St. Anthony died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the Ashton Memorial Living Center. Lillis was born April 22, 1920 at Rigby, a daughter of John Peter Birch and Bertha Vilate Johnson Birch. She attended schools in Rigby and Star Valley. She worked as a telephone operator. She married Albert Freeman Johnson, November 29, 1952 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in the Primary for many years as a teacher and as the Primary President, she served a mission to Dallas, Texas from 1980 to1982, and was a dedicated temple patron. Lillis, along with her husband enjoyed working with the St. Anthony Little League Baseball program; she was a great cook, a compassionate person and was known for her service in the community.
She is survived by Her Daughter, Teresa (Harold) Kunz of Nampa, her son Jimmie Albert (Cookie) Johnson of St. Anthony, eleven Grandchildren and thirteen Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, four Brothers and three Sisters.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Anthony 3rd ward Chapel, 507 W. 2nd North, Bishop Chance Eckman officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Saturday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
