Linda Marie Barnes

August 8, 1955 — October 21, 2003

Linda Marie Barnes, 48, of Menan, Idaho passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at her home. She was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho where she graduated from Pocatello High School in 1973. She attended Idaho State University where she met her husband and eternal companion Scott Barnes. They were married August 17, 1978 and had their marriage solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on their first anniversary. She was blessed with what she considered her greatest joy in life five different times. Josh, Emily, Amy, Melissa and Bridger came into her home and into her life and enriched it. She found her calling as a mother to be the most rewarding and spent her time teaching her children to find joy in everything they do, but most importantly how to live like their savior Jesus Christ and to treat people as He would. She tried to emulate Him in everything she did and had a firm testimony of the reality of His life and resurrection. Linda enjoyed being outside where she could enjoy her Heavenly Fathers creations. Whether she was watching a magnificent sunset, the moon reflecting on the river, or a simple flower blowing in the breeze she would have a smile on her face. She was always grateful for every experience she had and every person she met. She loved her time working at White Grass Ranch in Jackson Hole, climbing Table Rock Mountain to celebrate her 45th birthday, soaring above the Tetons in a glider, or catching fish on Henry’s Lake. She loved everything green and enjoyed growing her own herbs in her greenhouse and learning how to use them in her everyday life. She studied and worked hard to become a certified foot zonologist in 1995 which was a major accomplishment for her. She truly loved everyone she met and tried to show that in everything she did. Linda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she found so much joy in serving in the young women’s and primary organizations. In addition to her husband and 5 children she is survived by her parents Joe and Ruth Green of Pocatello, two sisters Janet Hyde of Lehi, Utah and Tammy (Tracy) Moore of Pocatello, one brother Gary (Mary) Green of Centerville, Utah and one brother-in-law Kelley Hemsley of Dillon, Montana. She was preceded in death by one sister Denise Hemsley and one niece and one nephew. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the Menan LDS Stake Center on 3600 East in Menan at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening the 24th of October at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main, Rigby and on Saturday for one hour prior to services at the Stake Center. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers you consider donations to Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their excellent compassionate care they provided.
