Lloyd Elmer Galbraith 88, died November 26, 2005 at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehab.
Lloyd was born September 28, 1917 in Lyman, Idaho to Archie Galbraith and Selma Kjelin Galbraith. He attended grade school in Lyman and graduated from Madison High School. He worked on a hay ranch in Dillon, Montana in the summers and would come home in the winter. He loved horses and always had a pony to ride. He was drafted into the Army Air Force during World War II, and while on leave he married Lena Cherry at his home in Lyman on August 4, 1942. They had three children. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and on December 9, 1943 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. They moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1944 and he worked in the ship yards in Portland. After returning to Idaho, he worked for his brother-in-law Lavar Cherry and learned carpentry work building houses in the Ashton and local area. He applied for a job at the INEL and was hired in the carpenter shop. He worked there for 27 years. After he retired he worked for C&H Construction. Lloyd and Lena bought a small piece of ground in Yucca, Arizona, and spent 10 winters there with family and friends. He has lived most of his life in Lyman close to where he was born. He loved to spend his vacations hunting in the Salmon National Forest, fishing for steelhead on the Salmon River spending many fall days out there fishing, and riding horses.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Van in 1969 and Byron in 1998, two sisters, Lillian and Velma and three brothers Vern, Orvin, and Ronald.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Lena Galbraith of Lyman, daughter Cheri (Dan) Webster of Jerome, brothers Marlin Galbraith of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Keith Galbraith of Boise, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren,10 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 3, 2005 at the Lyman 1st Ward with Bishop Brad McCurdy officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday, December 2, 2005 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the services at the Sutton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
