Lloyd Jay Passey, age 82, of Rigby, passed away at Madison Memorial Hospital Sunday, March 16, 2008. He was born March 27, 1925, at Magrath, Alberta, Canada, a son of Charles Ace Passey and Elva Coleman Passey. He was raised in Magrath and attended schools there. During WWII he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served in the European and Pacific Theatre. October 11, 1946 he married Carla Mae Langley at Magrath, their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In September, 1952 he moved from Canada to Lorenzo, Idaho. He worked for George Wall as a painter in Yellowstone Park for 16 years and he owned and operated Passey Painting with his son, Keith for several years. He was a Member of the LDS church. He was a member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Posse for many years, a member of the National North Cutter Association and Madison Chariot Association where he served as President.
Jay enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and trail riding. He especially loved his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Carla Passey of Rigby, two daughters, Barbara (Dave) Wylie, and Renae Freeman, both of Rigby, two sons, Keith (Colleen) Passey of Rexburg, and Rich (Tana) Passey of Idaho Falls, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the East Rigby Stake Center with Bishop Robert Clarke, Conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
