Loa Joy Crystal, age 76, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday November 17, 2024.
Joy was born October 24, 1948 in Rigby, Idaho a daughter to Floyd David and Harriet Eunice Johnson Crystal. Joy attended and graduated from Rigby High School.
Throughout her life she had two and sometimes three jobs. Always a very hard worker. Some of these jobs included, one of the first volunteers on the Mud Lake Ambulance, Simmons Hardware in Terreton, EIRMC as a phlebotomist, Cal Ranch, Macys, and owned her own beauty shop named Fashion Bar Beauty Salon.
Joy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; and she also a worked with their Addiction Recovery Program. In that program, she served people who were incarcerated and working through a 12-step recovery program. Her work there brought her great happiness and hope. Joy’s hobbies are playing solitaire, watching crime shows, laughing at anyone who fell down, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved horses, most of all her favorite horse Easter, which she had as a kid, growing up in Garfield. Joy served for many years as the Young Women's camp director and helped with the Distinguished Young Women at West Jefferson High School. Joy was a sassy spitfire in everything she did. She served and loved and gave her all in whatever she was doing.
Joy is survived by her daughters Tecia Dawn (Sandy) Ferguson of Meridian, Idaho, and DariDee (Jason) Landon of Rigby, Idaho, Deborah Kasper (Greg), Michelle Hirschman (Paul), sister Diane Nielsen of Boise, Idaho, brothers Ron (Karen) Crystal of Grant, Idaho, Terry Crystal of Boise, Idaho, her 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren that brought her the brightest smile.
She is preceded by her parents Floyd and Harriet Crystal, sister Sharon, and brother Larry Crystal.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, 11:00 AM at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street Rigby). Family will visit with friends and family Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM and prior to the service on Friday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
