Lois Aileen Peterson, 87, of Rigby passed away Tuesday, October 01, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born February 8, 1926, in LaBelle, Idaho to Lorenzo Edward Matson and Edith Pearl Morgan Matson. She was raised and attended schools in Mud Lake, LaBelle, and Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. She continued her education at LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. On June 29, 1949 she married Golden Virgil Peterson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with one daughter and four sons.
Lois worked in the St. Anthony Courthouse and Jefferson County Court House in the Assessor’s Office. She also worked at Helen Hedelius’s Fabric Shop in Rigby, as a Rural Mail Carrier in Lorenzo, and for Ricks College in food service and for the housing department.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in the Cub Scout Program, in the ward and stake Primary Organization, in the Young Women’s Organization, as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, and she and Golden served a full time mission to Billings, Montana in 1996.
Lois enjoyed gardening and sewing and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Golden V. Peterson, of Rigby; daughter, Sue (Kevin) Walker, of Rigby; sons, Doyle (Delene) Peterson, of Highland, Utah, Danny (Judy) Peterson, of Fruita, Colorado, Bryan (Cheryl) Peterson, of Provo, Utah, Boyd (Lauri) Peterson, of Firth, Idaho; sisters, Evelyn Tronier, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Judy (Bruce) Godfrey, of Hyde Park, Utah,; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Matson, of Meridian, Idaho; twenty nine grandchildren; and forty nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2013, in the LaBelle 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 4223 E. 528 N. Rigby. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m., to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
