Lois Berneice Nord Poole, 81, passed away peacefully after a short illness at her home on May 5, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lois was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the LDS hospital to Clyde James Nord and Amelia Berneice Nord on December 12, 1936. She attended school in the Rigby area and graduated from Rigby High School in 1955. She loved playing the trombone in the Marching Band. She married Clyde W. Poole at the Clark Ward Church on December 12, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple March 15, 1965. Lois worked 14 years as a lab technician supervisor for Idaho Fresh Pak in Lewisville, ID. She started as a dispatcher for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office in 1976. After 29 years of distinguished service she retired in January 2005 as the Secretary for the Sheriff, Head of dispatchers and warrants. She worked with four different Sheriff’s during her tenure and was proud of her career in law enforcement. Lois enjoyed traveling to various places from Alaska down to Mexico and Hawaii, having adventures with her many friends and family. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing while vacationing in their camper or motorhome. After retirement, she loved spending the winter month’s snow-birding in Apache Junction, AZ with Clyde and family. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and always had beautiful daffodils, poppies, delphiniums, roses and hollyhocks. She also loved to place large rocks and garden ornaments such as frogs, turtles, ducks, alligators, road runners, pigs and many hummingbirds. She was active for over 25 years in the Cub Scouts and held many positions and enjoyed teaching the boys. She was the secretary for the Lowder Slough Canal Company for many years and was fascinated about the history of the canal systems. She loved to golf in the Jefferson Hills Women League and Idaho Chapman with her husband, Clyde, and won in her flight many times. In 2017 she won 1st in her flight and said, “Not bad for an 81 year old lady!” She is preceded in death by by her parents Clyde J. and Berneice Nord, a brother Darwin Nord, and her husband Clyde W. Poole and their beloved Shih Tzu companion “Buffy”. She is survived by her sister Helen (Bob, deceased) Watson, brother Reed (Gaylia) Nord, her sons Kevin (Grace) Poole, Mike Poole, and Brian (Melanie) Poole, and a daughter Lori Jo Poole-Washington (Antonio). She has ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and cherish her. A viewing will be held at Eckersell’s Funeral Home in Rigby, ID on May 10, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the LaBelle 2nd Ward church on May 11, 2018 starting at 11:00 AM. There will be a family viewing prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:30 AM. She will be buried next to her husband at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
