Lola Hunter Reed, 87, of LaBelle, died March 21, 2010, at her daughter’s home in LaBelle.
She was born May 26, 1922, in Lewisville, to Edward Laurence Hunter and Verla Stowell Hunter. She attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School as the salutatorian. While attending Rigby High School she served four years on the student council and worked on the school news paper staff. She continued her education at Ricks College.
On February 20, 1942, she married Roy Leo Reed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Several years later they moved to LaBelle where they raised their children and lived the remainder of their life. Lola was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward and stake callings in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School. She also loved the years when she and her husband served together in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Lola’s life was spent providing love and service to her family, friends and church. Her love and wisdom lifted others’ burdens and brought joy and meaning to many lives. Even as her health declined, her ability to express love, direction, and peace to family, grandchildren, and friends never diminished. Her presence will be missed deeply.
She is survived by her son Sidney (Karen) Reed of Boise and daughters; Elaine (Richard) Ellis of LaBelle and Linda (John) Knowles of Boise; 9 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the LaBelle, 1st Ward Chapel, with Bishop Brad Schaat, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
