Loretta Barney, 74, of Terreton, died at her home Friday, November 8, 2002.
Loretta was born July 12, 1928, at Bancroft, Idaho a daughter of David Calvert McLain
and Mary Loretta Smith McLain. She attended schools in Bancroft and graduated from North
Gem High School. She married Leonard LaMoyne Barney May 15, 1948 at Pocatello, Idaho.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 10, 1965.
She was member of the Farm Bureau, the Mud Lake Senior Center and active member of the
Hamer Election Board. She sang as a member of the Bancroft High School Choir and Church
Choir.
She loved to dance, but the most important things in her life were her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her husband; LaMoyne Barney of Terreton, Idaho. Her daughters, Janet
(Gary) Laird of Pocatello, Idaho, Ann Barney of Challis, Idaho and Marie (Harley) Carpenter of
Terreton, Idaho. A son; Lyle (L. Jo) Barney of Shelley, Idaho. Her sisters; Eva Moderistski of
Bancroft, Idaho, Afton (Tom) Jones of Pocatello, Idaho and Virda McAttee of Mesa, Arizona.
Her brother; Hyram (Jean) McLain of Bancroft, Idaho. Eleven grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2002 in the Terreton 1st Ward LDS Chapel
at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel on Sunday, November
10, 2002, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Monday, November 11, 2002 at the Terreton LDS
Church from 11:30 a.m to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery in Dubois, Idaho.
The family asks that donations be made to the West Jefferson Lion’s Club, the Mud Lake Senior
Citizen Center or the Cancer Research Foundation.
