Lorin Edwin Butterfield of Rigby, age 86, quietly passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Sage Grove Assisted Living Center. Lorin moved to Sage Grove on March 27, 2021 after his rapid decline due to Alzheimers.
Lorin was born to Max Samuel Butterfield and Ellen Knight on August 9, 1935. He was raised in Egin, Idaho and graduated from South Fremont High School. Lorin joined the United States Air Force in October of 1954, making a career of 22 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, and returning back to Idaho, he went to work at the Old LDS Hospital which later became Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Lorin retired from EIRMC after 20 years in the fall of 1996.
Lorin Married Carma Jensen from Kilgore, on March 18, 1955, and later was sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on June, 16, 1992. Lorin and Carma were blessed with two children a daughter Connie and a son Robert (better known as Bob or Bobby).
Lorin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in several different callings with scout master being his favorite.
Lorin loved to hunt and fish. He discovered ice fishing and spent many hours perfecting his ice fishing equipment.
Lorin is survived by his daughter Connie (Lynn) of Cedar City, Utah and his son Robert (Kim) of Rigby, Idaho, 4 grandchildren, one brother Bill Butterfield of St. Anthony, Idaho and two sisters-in-law Berneice Cherry and Doris McFarland both of Rigby.
Lorin was preceded in death by Carma, his wife of 66 years, his parents Max Samuel Butterfield and Ellen Knight, his step-dad Earl Weatherston, his 2 sisters, Mary Dell McFarland and Darlene Weatherston, his brother Harold Butterfield and a granddaughter Elsa Butterfield.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho 83442. The family will visit with friends at the Funeral Home, Sunday February 6, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
