Lorin Levi Miles, age 81 of Rigby, died at his home Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Lorin was born September 11, 1925 in Rigby, a son of Paul Snow Miles and Evelyn Jeanette Prophet Miles. He was raised and attended schools in the Rigby area, was named Valedictorian his 8th grade year, and graduated from Rigby High School. May 29, 1948 he married Betty L. Groom. They celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary this past May. Lorin served in the Army as a M.P. at the time of the war time trials, during WWII in the Philippines. He worked as a Sales Manager for Chase Bag Company in Idaho Falls for 25 years, and for several years in purchasing at the Site for General Electric. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of American International Charolais Association and traveled extensively throughout seventeen foreign countries researching Charolais cattle with his wife Betty. He earned numerous grand champion awards in the intermountain west for his work with Charolais. Along with his brother Ray, he raised Charolais cattle on the family ranch in Labelle. Later he moved the cattle to Garfield where he retired. Lorin enjoyed fishing, raising and showing Charolais cattle, but most importantly he enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren.
Lorin is survived by his wife Betty of Garfield, daughter Jana Marie (Don) Huffman of Smithfield, Utah, a son, Rick (Betty L.) Miles of Rigby, a sister Nina Sucher, of Rigby, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ray.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends from 6 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
