Lorin Leroy Mortensen

October 18, 1935 — December 5, 2008

Lorin LeRoy Mortensen, 73, of Rexburg, passed away, December 5, 2008, at his home. He was born October 18, 1935, in Rexburg, to LeRoy Mortensen and Esther Leona Daniels Brown Mortensen. He was raised in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. He served in the Idaho National Guard. On March 29, 1963, he married Colleen Clark in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He farmed in the Lyman area all of his life and worked for Basic American Foods in Rexburg for 40 years. Lorin enjoyed horseback riding, cattle, farming, snowmobiling, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Christensen, of Layton, UT, Misty (Kent) Smith, of Lyman, four sons, Todd (Noreen) Mortensen, of Willard, UT, Monte (Danell) Mortensen, of Logan, UT, Justin (Dana) Mortensen, of Perry, UT, Blake (Randi) Mortensen, of Lyman, sisters, Myrtie (Errol) Johnson, of Wilford, Mary Jane Rupard, of Twin Falls, brothers, Rulon (Lillian) Mortensen, of Lyman, Leon (Barbara) Mortensen, of Lyman, and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Colleen, sister Donna Whittaker, infant sister Colleen Mortensen, and a brother, Orin Keith Mortensen. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Lyman 1st Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
