Luana Rainey

January 12, 1930 — July 16, 2017

Caroline Luana Miller Rainey, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Annis, ID on Sunday, July 16th, 2017.  She was born January 12th, 1930 to Henry Edwin Miller, and Caroline Gneiting Miller in Menan, ID. She married Dee Elias Rainey on January 12th, 1947.  They had 5 children, Connie LaRue Ball (Allen) Idaho Falls, ID, Charlene Blanchard Stevens (Franklin) Tremonton, Utah, Janet Brown (Arlin) Boise, ID, Glendon Dee Rainey (deceased) and Susan Mason (Cleston) Rigby, ID.In her youth Luana had the unique opportunity to play on a professional women’s fast pitch baseball team, “The Idaho Falls Rockettes.” She was the youngest on the team! Luana managed establishments in the retail clothing industry.  She had many friends, and relatives and enjoyed spending time with them.  She was an avid camper, and was quite accomplished at fly fishing and hunting.  She often said that, “There wasn’t a father-in-law, husband, son-in-law or friend she couldn’t beat! Cooking and entertaining friends and family was her joy!  Whenever anyone came into her home, they could expect to be fed and treated well!  She loved spending her winters in Yuma, AZ with Dee and Glendon, where they enjoyed the warm winters and off roading adventures. Our father passed in 2002, and Luana married LaVern Scott of Ririe, ID, (who also proceeded her in death). She married, Garn Thueson (divorced), and they enjoyed several winters in Yuma, AZ. before she became ill.   Luana was proceeded in death by her husband, and a son, Glendon Dee Rainey, her parents, and all of her siblings, Belva Clark (Lee), Velma Miller, Ray Miller (Annie), Elden Miller (Oneta), Eunice Youngstrom (Lewis), Deloy Miller (Nelda), Arzula Ellis (Wendell), Gene Miller (Arlene), Faun Dutson (Bill). She is currently survived by 4 daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren.  In keeping with our Mothers wishes, the funeral will be a short graveside service. It will be held at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, Annis, ID, on Wednesday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m. for family and friends. A light brunch will follow the proceedings, and will be held at the Sereno Event Center located at 3866 E. Menan Lorenzo Hwy., previously (the old Annis Church house), immediately following the services for the family and close friends.
