Lyle W Schmardebeck, 82 of St. Anthony, Idaho passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2020 in Rexburg, Idaho. Lyle was born in Sand Creek, Idaho, the son of William Christ Schmardebeck and Erma Broadhurst Schmardebeck. He attended schools in St. Anthony and Sugar City, Idaho, graduating from Sugar City High School. He continued his education at Idaho State Technical College earning an associate’s degree as a machinist.
On December 7, 1960, Lyle married Pauline Voss in Teton, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 7, 2001.
Lyle served in the United States Airforce as an aircraft mechanic. He was assigned in the North West Territory. He worked in Rexburg, Idaho at the Grain Elevators, then at the Kennecott Mine in Salt Lake City, Utah as a mechanic and later as a machinist for the Department of Energy.
Lyle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a simple man who liked searching for arrow heads and going on scenic drives. He whittled and was an amateur gunsmith. He loved hunting sage hens and gathering and splitting wood for his neighbors.
Lyle is survived by his children; Melonie Dawn (Kristopher) Frasure of Harriman, Utah, Jody L (Carla) Schmardebeck of Rigby, Idaho, Stanley H (Krista) Schmardebeck of Missoula, Montana and Christian DuShane (Shanda) Schmardebeck of Ucon, Idaho. A sister, Elma Holmes of Dubois, Idaho, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline. Parents, William and Erma. A brother, Gail Schmardebeck and a daughter in law, Debbie Wickham Schmardebeck.
A funeral service will be held for Lyle on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho) at 11:00 AM. They will visit with friends at Eckersell’s prior to services from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
A broadcast will be provided for those who would like to view the services. Limited participation is suggested because of COVID guidelines. Those who attend the services are advised in wearing of protective masks and social distancing.
