Lyle Wren Scott

Lyle Wren Scott, 96, of Ammon formerly of Annis, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Mt. Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was born May 15, 1914, in Annis, Idaho, to John Robert Scott and LuElla Campbell Scott. He was raised and attended school in Annis and Rigby, and graduated from Midway High School. On May 26, 1936, he married Fern Lewis in Annis; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 4, 1938. He worked as a carpenter during WWII, and farmed in the Annis Area for 60 years. He also worked for the State of Idaho plowing snow in the winter and doing road maintenance during the summer. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Annis Bishopric for 11 years and in the Rigby Stake Young Men’s Presidency for 10 years. He served on the Long Island Canal Board and on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission for many years. Lyle enjoyed horses, trail riding, camping, fishing, gardening and attending his grandchildren’s events. The family expresses appreciation to Mt. Vernon Assisted Living Center and also Janessa and Sara of Creekside Home Health & Hospice for the loving care and concern they showed our Dad. He is survived by his children; Sharon (Darwin) Casper, of Lewisville, June (Norman) Jorgensen, of Orem, Utah, Lylene (Ron) Bennett, of Rexburg, Cheryl (Paul) Dinsdale, of Farr West, Utah, Nancy (Craig) Tibbitts, of Idaho Falls, Brent Lewis (Anne) Scott, of Eden, Utah, sister, Donna Fullmer, of Menan, brother, Glen C. (Kathleen) Scott, of Idaho Falls, 29 grandchildren, and 59 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Menan Stake Center, with Bishop Craig H. Tibbitts, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
