Lyle William Tanner, 77 of Blackfoot, Idaho died Saturday, September 4, 2004 in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the hospital following an automobile accident.
Lyle was born May 12, 1927 in Rigby, Idaho the son of William S. Tanner and Nettie Hawker Tanner. He attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Ella Mae Billman in Dillon, Montana in November of 1946. She preceded him in death in December of 1955. He married Helen B. Lounsbury in Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 16, 1998.
He was a member of the Elks Club and had been a member of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Posse in his younger years. He ranched and farmed in the Rigby community for many years before moving to California in the late 1970’s. After 20 years of working at a West Minster Ceramics in California he retired and moved back to Blackfoot, Idaho in 1994. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and cooking for all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Helen B. Tanner of Blackfoot, Idaho. Four daughters, Ronda Lee (David) Evans of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lana Jean (Rod) Duke of Roberts, Idaho, Terrie Olsen and Connie Clements of Rigby, Idaho. Three sons, Randy Lyle (LaNece) Tanner of Rowlett, Texas, William Kent (Bobbie) Tanner of Rigby, Idaho, Kendal Ray (Julie) Tanner of Boise, Idaho. A sister, Donna Fuchs of Rigby, Idaho and a brother, Jay (Romey) Billman of Thompson Station, Tennessee. Twenty grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Mae Tanner, his parents, William and Nettie Tanner, two sisters, Altha Rock, Veda Latimer and one brother Don Tanner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby, Idaho). The family will meet with friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho.
