Martha Lynda Smith, 66, of Rigby, died Thursday June 26, 2014 at her home. She was born September 4, 1947 in Driggs to E. Hal Rasmussen and LeIsle Greene Rasmussen. She was raised and attended schools in the Victor area and graduated from Teton Valley High School in Driggs. On November 5, 1965 she married Dennis B. Smith; they were blessed with 3 children. Lynda’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. In her youth she graduated from beauty school in Rexburg and later in life retired from the U.S. Forrest Service after 18 years in the Bridger Teton National Forest. She enjoyed traveling, making crafts, taking pictures and fishing. Lynda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her husband, Dennis B. Smith, of Rigby, daughters; Sabrina Dawn (Ivan) Sanchez of Spanish Fork, Utah, JimaLiegh (Darrus) Thomas of Rigby, son; Darby (Rachelle) Smith, of Rigby, sisters; Susan Sharp of Lyman, Jean (Vern) Jones, of Rigby, Patty (Keith) Cutler, of Newdale, brothers; Doug (Sally) Rasmussen of Rexburg, Buzz (Janie) Rasmussen of Victor, Jim (Pat) Rasmussen, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Phillip (Saralee) Rasmussen, of Enumclaw, Washington, Richard (Betty) Rasmussen of Victor, Joe (Tracy) Rasmussen of Plano, Kenny (Cindy) Rasmussen of Rigby and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Garfield 5th Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday June 30th at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Victor Cemetery.
