Lynn Merrill Barrow

Lynn Merrill Barrow, 86, of Menan, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at his home. He was born July 24, 1924, in Rigby, ID to Earl Raymond Barrow and Jessie Elizabeth Brown Barrow. He attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in May 1943, while attending high school he also attended N.Y. A. Radio School. He enlisted in the US Navy on January 17, 1944 and served during WWII. He received an Honorable Discharge on the 25th of April 1946. On Sept 19, 1947 he married Priscilla Jean Thornton, in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. Together they had 11 children. He started farming at an early age, and continued to do so throughout his life. He also worked at the Menan Post Office, INL for 15 years, Golden Valley, and Idaho Fresh Pak from which he retired in 1988. Lynn is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including; Young Men’s organization, Sunday School, Choir, Temple Worker, Home Teacher and participated in Scouting. He was a member of the Lions Club, Sons of the Utah Pioneers, and was the Long Island Canal Water Master for many years. He is survived by his daughters; Lynda (Walter) Romriell, of Menan, Peggy Huston, of Menan, Helen (Lindel) Rasmussen, of Idaho Falls, Janis (Ron) Welch, of Menan, Norma Barrow, of Rexburg, Larue (Wade) Wilde, of Roberts, Nedra (Dennis) Lords, of Idaho Falls, Becky Barrow, of Menan, sons; Dayle (Susan) Barrow, of Rigby, Garth (Teresa) Barrow, of Rigby, Eldon (Arlene) Barrow, of Shelley, sister; Lucile Barrow, of Brigham City, Utah, brothers, Wayne (Marlene) Barrow, of Rigby, Donald (Connie) Barrow, of Albion, Idaho, Robert (Maureen) Olson, of Jordan River, Utah, 33 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean Barrow who preceded him in death on February 10, 1988, sisters, Norma and Beulla, brothers, Jay and Marvin, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Menan Stake Center, with Bishop Vance Nelson, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. And from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the Menan Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
