Lynn Elmer Briggs, 75 of Rexburg, died Sunday, September 8, 2013 at The Gardens of Rigby care facility.
He was born December 25, 1937, in Rexburg to Eric Elmer Briggs and Clea May Weekes Briggs. He was raised and attended schools in Archer, graduating from Madison High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in January of 1960; he served in Scotland as a Machinist Mate and was honorably discharged in 1964. On September 8, 1964, he married Norma Lee Snodgrass in Boise; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 8, 1977. Lynn worked for several farmers in the Archer area in his early years, for the Potato Growers when he returned from serving in the Navy, and for the State Highway Department for 31 years, retiring in 1997.
Lynn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, huckleberry picking, and cutting firewood.
He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Briggs, Susan Miller, son, James Briggs, all of Rexburg, sisters, Elaine (Lee) Yokom, of Colorado, Barbara (George) Hardy, of Idaho Falls, Madeline (Ed) Colburn, of West Jordan, Utah, brothers, Lee (Julie) Briggs, of Idaho Falls, Larry (Sonia) Briggs, of Rexburg, and 2 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister Loretta.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Sutton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Friday at the Archer LDS Church. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
