Roderick Lynn Walker, 84 of Rigby died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his home.
Lynn was born December 17, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho, the son of Lorenzo William Walker and Stella Jenkins Walker. He was raised and attended schools in Rexburg and Rigby. On June 25, 1952 he married Sharon Hall in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 1 daughter and 3 sons. Lynn enlisted in the US Army in November of 1953 and served as a Field Artillery Mechanic; he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged in August of 1955. Lynn farmed and ranched in the Rigby area and was a rural mail carrier for over 30 years.
Lynn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in many capacities including counselor in the bishopric, high counselor and stake executive secretary to 3 stake presidents. He served a family history mission and was a temple officiator for 24 years. Lynn was dedicated to his family and serving the Lord. He enjoyed serving in the community with the fair board and as a canal board member.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon H. Walker, of Rigby, daughter; Lauri (Boyd) Peterson of Firth, sons, Dwight (Linda) Walker of Rigby, Kevin (Sue) Walker, of Rigby, David (Donna) Walker of North Ogden, Utah, brothers; Dan (Judy) Walker, of Rigby, Kent (Julie) Walker, of Idaho Falls, Ned (Joann) Walker, of Rigby, 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Evelyn, Ardath, Betty, and brother; Ray “Bud”.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Solace Hospice for the kind and loving care given to Lynn over the last 2 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at the LaBelle 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 4223 E. 528 N. Rigby. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
