Maralyn Hill Lovell

July 31, 1926 — December 2, 2014

Maralyn Hill Lovell, 88, of Ririe passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at The Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born July 31, 1926 at the family home in Ucon, Idaho, to Robert E. Hill and Fanny Marguerite Monsen Hill. After graduating from Ucon High School, she attended Ricks College where she received a teaching certificate. Teaching first grade in Ucon kept her busy until she met her sweetheart, Rendon David Lovell. They were married on June 15, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple and eventually settled on the family farm in Ririe, Idaho, raising and teaching their seven children. Maralyn lovingly supported Rendon through all aspects of their lives and traveled many places just to spend time with family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings including Primary chorister, Young Women’s leader, and Relief Society president. Along with her husband, they served as senior missionaries in Tennessee and New York. She loved being part of the community serving and helping others, participating with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and spent many hours singing and playing the piano for various occasions. She is survived by four sons: James R. (Hope) Lovell, Mark D. (Vickie) Lovell, Clair D. (Melina) Lovell, all of Ririe, and Paul R. (Brenda) Lovell of South Jordan, Utah (currently serving as president of the Argentina Neuquén Mission); three daughters Reneé (Kim) Ritter of Ririe, Diane (Terry) Hulse of Swan Valley, and Marian (Lance) Cygielman of Jackson, Wyoming; sister, Lorraine (Dick) Wood; brothers, Dean (Virginia) Hill and Donald Hill; sister-in-law Joyce Hill; 36 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Paul M. Hill and Robert Vaughn Hill, two granddaughters Jennifer and Emily, and one great-grandson Harmon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, at the Ririe-Perry LDS Chapel, 285 Second West in Ririe. The family will meet with friends and relatives Friday, December 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and prior to the service Saturday, December 6, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Ririe-Perry LDS Chapel in Ririe. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Services under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
