Ms. Mardi Amos Hayes, 49, of Idaho Falls, died March 20, 2009, at her home. She was born June 20, 1959, in Laurel Mississippi, to Paul Franklin Amos and Mary Jo Stuart Amos. She graduated from Butte County High School in Arco, in 1977; she received her Bachelors Degree in education from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, then continued her education and received a Masters Degree in Counseling from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. She taught kindergarten for 23 years, 18 of which were at Ririe Elementary. On June 6, 1998 she married Karl William Hayes in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ms. Mardi loved Christ, teaching, singing, reading and seafood. She was a Union Representative for Idaho Education Association. She is survived by her husband, Karl, a daughter, Lyndi Gamett, a son, Josey Gamett, all of Idaho Falls, her mother, Mary Jo Amos, of Garner, North Carolina, sisters, Lucy Amos, of Arco, Dianne (Randall) Hicks, of Garner, North Carolina, and brothers, Paul (Sheila) Amos, of Raleigh, North Carolina, William (Beth) Amos, of Germantown, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Amos Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Ririe Stake Center, 14061 N. 130 E., Ririe, the family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family requests that contributions be made to the Ririe Public Library, 464 Main St, Ririe, ID 83443, specifically for large print books.
