Margie Helen Hulse

August 17, 2014 — May 1, 2014

Margie Helen Cordon Hulse, 82, of Ririe, passed away Thursday evening, May 1, 2014. Margie was born August 17, 1931 in Tucson, AZ, to Robert Clyde and Madge Davis Cordon. Margie graduated from Madison High School in 1948. Her favorite subjects were science and math. After high school, she married Dale Hulse and together they started a family. Her husband’s work took them to Jackson, WY, and Island Park, ID, every summer in the early years of their marriage. During these times, Margie enjoyed taking her young sons exploring and it instilled in them all a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. Margie’s favorite outdoor activity was fishing. As an angler, she loved to fish Idaho’s streams and rivers. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to fish and explore. One of her favorite places was the beaches of Palisades Reservoir where she and her family once discovered several ancient and fully intact bison skeletons. Margie had a successful career with the State of Idaho Department of Agriculture where she became the first female potato inspector of the state. She worked for many years inspecting at warehouses all over southeast Idaho. This may be where she mastered the art of haggling – a skill she put to use every weekend when she would go to yard sales. She always found the best deals, and built an impressive collection of Care Bears. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Margie served in many service and missionary roles including 15 years at the LDS Cannery. Most of all, Margie enjoyed spending time with her family, either cooking her famous Dutch Oven fried chicken and potato salad, laughing at a good joke, and taking them to one of her favorite fishing holes. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Hulse of Charlotte, NC, three sons Rick (Emma) Hulse of Idaho Falls, ID, Terry (Diane) Hulse of Irwin, ID, Scott (Holly) Hulse of Mud Lake, ID, sister Clyda Cordon Halstead of Spirit Lake, ID, 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lindon Cordon and Albert Cordon, two sons Darrell Hulse and David Hulse, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Perry Ward LDS Chapel 285 2nd West Street in Ririe. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Her family loved her just as much as she loved them and she will be truly missed.
