Maria Ofelia Maldonado

Maria Ofelia Maldonado, 78, of Rigby, Idaho and Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020 in Rigby.  Maria was born August 1, 1942 in Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico on the Labor de Guadalupe Ranch.  She was the daughter of Meliton Orozco Hernandez and Guadalupe Montes Diaz.

Maria grew up on her family’s ranch where she also raised her own family.  She married Manuel E Maldonado in 1957. She and Manuel raised cattle and other animals. They grew corn and other crops including apples from their orchard.  She was well known in her town and around the area for the cheese she made.  Making cheese was her passion.  She was self-reliant and shared her prosperity with others.  She was very respected by the people of Temosachic and was friends with everyone. She was known to be very happy and elegant woman.  She was a hard worker and enjoyed music.

Maria is survived by her children; Luz E (Santiago) Galaviz, Maria Del Refugio (Eleuterio) Maldonado, Magda Ofelia (Lalo) Maldonado, Abel (Maria) Galaviz and Enrique (Margarita) Maldonado.  Her sisters; Alicia Orozco, Lourdes Orozco and Rosa Orozco and brother, Jesus Orozco. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel E. Maldonodo.  A daughter, Norma Romona Maldonado. Her parents and a brother, Reyes Orozco.

The family will hold a Rosary on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID  83442) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  Interment will be in the Municipal Cemetery of Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico.
